This is the next chance communities will have to hear from MCPS and Dr. Taylor in response to the Board’s questions and the community feedback they have received at recent public hearings. If you are able to, tune in and hear what (if any) response MCPS may provide, including possible additional changes to the Superintendent’s recommendation. Some of the proposals the Superintendent is responding to could shift additional population to WalterJohnson.
In making final boundary decisions, the WJ Cluster is encouraging the Board to keep in mind planned and in-progress housing development projects within current boundaries, to ensure there is room to accommodate additional students from new housing developments in future years. An elementary school boundary study is anticipated to start after the current middle/high school boundary studies are finalized. In addition to the approving and finalizing boundary recommendations, March 26th will also be when the BOE will review and approve the scope of the elementary school boundary study.
Thanks,
Elaine
