KP Community -
I want to highlight the message below that was pushed out by MCPS. The Board of Education (BOE) held a meeting on Tuesday, June 24th and covered two main things regarding Woodward:
Initial themes based on boundary study survey feedback (as of June 20, 2025): Representative themes were shared but not exhaustive. Spilt articulation was mentioned as a specific concern and used schools like Silver Creek, Burning Tree, and Garrett Park. Personally, I was concerned that KP was not also mentioned so this is a call/push to ask the KP community to fill out the individual survey and/or attend office hours (T 8-9 am, Th 6-7 pm, Fri 12 - 1 pm | Zoom Link: Meeting ID: 812 8216 3918 | Passcode: MCPS) to convey concerns.SURVEY DEADLINE IS JULY 15th (and see KP survey guidance here) MCPS is also holding virtual office hours for community input (I am on the Friday call as I write this and people are just conveying their concerns in this way as well)
Secondary Program Analysis (High School Academic Programming): This was a greater focus for the BOE meeting relative to the Boundary Study. They shared an initial design which takes current programming that offers County, Region, and Local programming to a Region/Local model. They indicated more information and discussion is needed (and I am guessing why they sent out the message below the way they did because it would be a significant change from what we have today).
Read this briefing document or listen to this audio 'podcast' form (about 14 min) that you can listen to at 2x speed (to further shorten the length) -- sorry in advance for the AI-generated voices :-)
Please feel free to forward as this is just a relay of the BOE meeting content.
Thank You
Elaine
