Hello all,

As a part of the Aspen Governance Task Force committee's work Bob Benhoff and I volunteered to draft a proposed code of conduct for the Aspen Community.

The draft that is now available draws heavily from Contribuutor Covenant, an open source code of conduct available at https://www.contributor-covenant.org/ and it basically says "Be excellent to each other."

The biggest part of our discussion in task force meetings concerned who to report bad behavior to and how to report bad behavior.  To solve this problem, we decided to create a page on the Aspen Community website at https://community.aspendiscovery.org/community_code_of_conduct that will eventually include a form (see a screenshot of the draft form at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/northeast-kansas-library-system/nextimages/refs/heads/master/aspen/code_form.png) that can be submitted to report violations.  The form is currently disabled on the website because this is just a draft and we're not ready to start enforcing, but you are welcome to view the document and offer feedback at this point.

So, if you have any feedback concerning the code of conduct or the proposed form, please feel free to contact us directly by email at gwil...@nekls.org or Bob at BBen...@clicweb.org, or on Slack at @George Williams - NEKLS  or @Bob Bennhoff and we will report on feedback to the task force at our upcoming July meetings on the 14th and the 28th as needed.

Thanks,

George
