Here is a heads up on this upcoming, trade-show type event, with info culled from last year's flyer.

Region 13 Transition Fair

Region 13 is hosting a Transition Fair to help students with disabilities and their families find the resources to plan for adult life. Agencies that support adults with disabilities to access higher education, recreation, independent living, and employment will be available to share information about their services.

Are you . . .
  • Thinking about what life will look like after graduation from high school?
  • Wondering how you can connect with the supports you’ll need at college?
  • Worried about leaving public school and not having the supports you’ll need to be independent?

Although it's theme is post-HS-graduation transition, it is open to the public. There are lots of resources that are valuable to much younger or older people, their families and support groups. The vendors should include lots of government and private organizations, direct and indirect service providers, schools and day programs -- and me (as I will have a booth there).

It is a good venue to see what is happening close to the user community.

[Note: Education Service Center (ESC) Region 13 is a non-regulatory agency; its relationship with school districts is collaborative and supportive, for the purpose of aiding teachers and administrators in their role as educators of children. It serves as a liaison between the Texas Education Agency and the local school districts and the schools they serve by disseminating information, conducting training and consultation for both federal and state programs.]
