to Tech Lunch, Accessibility SIG
David Pound died on April 3rd. David was a longtime regular participant at TechLunch, though he usually self-deprecatingly introduced himself as his wife's driver. His wife was Pat Pound, former Chair of TGCPD. He and Pat did a lot more, though Diana and I had our greatest interactions with both via TechLunch.
David and the TechLunchers did more than rub elbows; they also meshed minds. He was more to our community than the modest "cabbie"
waiting for his fare to finish her tasks. He was a sharp, insightful,
humorous and engaging participant in our discussions, which were
dominated by technology and accommodation, though he actually lived more in the world of art.
It took quite awhile before we
learned about, explored and appreciated his wonderful artistic side. We
have missed seeing him (and Pat) as frequently as during the peak of TechLunch. Now we will miss him even more, though smiling warmly because we knew him, as we pass on our condolences to Pat.
His obituary appears in the Statesman and on the Legacy website
The end of this tribute indicates that there will be a memorial service will be on April 27, 2019, 10AM, at Northwest Hills
United Methodist Church, 7050 Village Center Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.
