Pcbnew: New Feature for placeing text items

Hello Devs,

after I always had to move a lot of Designators and values of footprints via python console (centered in the footprint).

I first thought about creating a plugin to do that.

I have now implemented this feature in pcbnew in the menu under Edit -> Edit Text & Graphics Properties.

You have set text position "-- leave unchanged --", "Center" and "Origin". You can add further options here.

As a rule, you only need these two.

For SMD resistors and SMD capacitors you need "Center" and for relays, connectors and etc. you need "Origin".

How can I bring this feature into Kicad now?

What is the best way?

Hello Jan-

The best way will be to open a Merge Request on GitLab with your changes.  It will be helpful to include a screenshot of what the next dialog looks like as well.  We'll test your changes and if everything works as expected, merge them.
