Any thoughts on Fedora bug 2169876?

A user has reported a bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2169876

I'm at a bit of a loss, because there are no error messages yet. I've made some suggestions of things to try, but if any devs have other thoughts, I'll relay them to the user.

We can start by asking the user to type "bt" in the gdb prompt after they get the crash, which will give us a clue (assuming the Fedora packages are compiled with debug symbols)

Your other suggestions are good ones.
