It looks like Holger has at least a partial fix.  I would recommend coordinating in the issue with what you'd like to do.

Hi Seth, 

I sent out this message before Holger started working on this issue. I probably should have updated this thread. As the ngspice expert, it of course makes most sense for him to fix this issue upstream.
