Dear all devs,

After a couple of years working with Altium Designer, I decided to switch to KiCad, however, it took me a while to get used to the transition.
I was wondering what's your idea of developing a new skin similar to Altium, so it can ease transitions from both sides?

KiCad supports custom color themes.  There is an (unofficial) repository containing a number of options here: https://github.com/pointhi/kicad-color-schemes

I'm sure an Altium-inspired theme would be accepted here.

I don't know how much of a change it would be to have migrated from Altium
to KiCad. The transition from KiCad v5 to v6 required relearning how to do
some things. I would like the ability to change the icons used by the
program as I am not a fan of the ones we have now. They seem a bit flat and
lacking in colour. Perhaps it might be possible in v7. We can only hope.

You can in fact replace the icons. We just don't support it in the UI.

You just need to replace images.tar.gz, for example on Windows that's located in C:\Program Files\KiCad\<version>\share\kicad\resources

The first time I tried to use the icons from v5 nothing changed in v6. I
suspected it was due to the icons being compiled in to the program. I'll
give it another try some day. Thanks.
