Editing problem on User pages in J Wiki

I was trying to add a new page to my User page on J Wiki and after I sign in the usual Edit link is not appearing. When I press on the "view source" link it brings the page up in the editor, but then doesn't save any changes that are made. 

Is this just an error or have we turned off further User pages from the Wiki?

Further investigation:

I can edit existing pages in my User:Tom McGuire directory by clicking the link in my user page and then for that page the edit link appears and I can make a change to the page and save it. 

It is just the main User page that doesn't seem to allow edits

OK when I went back in today my changes appear in my user page and the new page link was there. Not sure why it didn't appear immediately but it all seems to be working now. It's just that the User page doesn't seem to work exactly like editing the subpages or if I were to add an essay to the main J essay page.
