Hello from another new and enthusiastic joiner!

A few months back, I stumbled upon APL and J on a blog that was all about the ‘worst’ programming languages. It sparked my curiosity, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

As a matter of introduction, I’ve been working for an international company in the financial sector for decades as a software engineer on the OS/390 mainframe (PL-1), then in various other roles. In my spare time, I’ve played around with VBA and Python, until J's compact and powerful syntax caught my attention. I’m also interested in architecture and graphic design, and I’m eager to experiment with J in these fields in the future.

I really appreciate the wiki. The J Primer is a fantastic starting point, the NuVoc works very well for me, and there are so many inspiring articles to explore.

I’m looking forward to returning to the forum as I keep learning. Next time, I’d like to really solidify my understanding, but I’m hoping to have more questions and insights to share soon.

I'm only a J 'dabbler', but a long-time enthusiastic 'lurker'... welcome to a fascinating and mind-expanding community!  Although it's currently in hiatus, I would recommend the 'Array Cast' podcast and, as you have mentioned, the wealth of information in the essays, books, and other excellent materials on the J website.

Cheers,

Stan
