A Beta 15 or JHS feature?

My laptop won't load JQt at the moment - won't load a large spreadsheet either, so
likely it's my problem, not yours! - so I was running the JHS overview lab.

I've just reached the bit about breaking a loop or other long-running operation, such
as sleep 20 .
This is what happened:

run sentence in the box below:
sleep 20 NB. 2 breaks to end the delay
jbreak not supported - use ctrl+c in server terminal window
I'm running Windows 11 and can of course run ctrl+c in the terminal,  but evidently
esc + c isn't working for me right now.
Here goes with that method of breaking:
sleep 20 NB. 2 breaks to end the delay
|break: sleep
|       sleep 20
So that method does work.

Here's the version info:

I should add that esc+q DOES do the intended job of ending the J session.

Michael,
esc-c works as JHS break only if you are running with a node proxy server. You need a node provy server if running JHS on a remote (different) host machine. It also handles https security.

If you are running a local JHS server, then you need to do the ctrl+c in the console window that started the server.

The overview lab tries to make this clear. Please look again an perhaps suggest changes that would make it more clear.

An example of a remote JHS server is the J guest server:
in that case esc-c will work as a break.

Sorry - I meant to reply to the Forum,  rather than Eric in person,  but pressed the wrong
reply button yet again.

OK, Eric, I'd missed the relevance of remarks about remote servers.  I've closed the
session now,  and won't try to recreate it;  however,  I do recall various bits about guest
servers.   Sorry to miss the point!

I suspect it's a significant improvement on earlier JHS versions,  as you need it to be to
impress those guests.  I'm not a frequent enough (JHS) user to be able to comment more
authoritatively.

Thanks,  and Good Luck with the J server project,

Mike

PS - my JQt session eventually opened after well over an hour,  somewhat after my
soreadsheet appeared - an unfortunate feature which strikes occasionally.   My problem
as I said - but a moan shared...
