Virus (?) message in 9.6

Hi,

My antimalware system scanned my disk and found a problem.

What shuold I do?

First, reinstall with a freshly downloaded instance of J and see if that makes the report go away.

If it does not, this is most likely a false positive. Sadly, malware detection is sometimes flawed.

However, if you still feel uncomfortable, get a checksum (sha1sum, sha256sum, ...) or several on the file. Then compare with those checksums on copies of that version of the file that other people have (especially the official copies). For example:


$ shasum -a 1 J9.6/bin/jconsole.exe
b96db1b468c69877e56b3043dc4e908aa1175d84 *jconsole.exe
$ shasum -a 256 J9.6/bin/jconsole.exe
9329f0b62aee1888ce2d216ddaa908ca65b1942751aeeb7adde1b3c7b131a10e *jconsole.exe
