a server restart made it come back.

looks like it was out of whack from about 1pm until 2:14pm. the logs
don't give any clue as to why it was failing. i'd done a server reload
around 1pm after a config change for another virtual host. that change
should not have affected the site. maybe some cruft in apache caused it
to get confused.

someone should sign up for pingdom or another monitoring service so we can
discover this kind of problem more quickly.
