XLayer was created to solve the problem of controlling layer properties for lines inside of Xrefs and Blocks. You can simply click on an object in the AutoCAD work area and edit the layer associated with that object. If the object is nested inside a block and/or an Xref, you can also edit any of those layers. You no longer need to use XLIST or guess the layer name, then hunt it down in the Layer Manager!

Click here to download the latest version. To install, just extract directly over your existing files or follow the instructions contained in the ZIP file or on the Website.

No new features in this bug fix release.

The following bugs have been squashed:
  • Fixed layer lineweights crashing when certain sizes were used.
I created XLayer 20 years ago. It was the very first program I wrote for AutoCAD because I knew there was a better way to control layers. Since then it's been used hundreds of thousands of times and makes you more productive every day. XLayer is and will continue to be free!

Please visit the XLayer website for more information:

Also check out my other program called EC Pro - Elevation Calculator. It's a drafting tool for calculating and labeling elevations such as for grading plans, or even utility plans. It's highly customizable, and can be configured to comply with company standards including layers, text styles, etc. Try the limited free version today, or contact me for a trial license of the full version!
