Dear Colleagues:

The Office for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning at the University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce that the Call for Proposals for the 2026 Innovative Education Conference (IEC) is now open. The 2026 conference will be held virtually on April 1, 2026.

This year’s theme, Flourishing Together: Teaching & Learning in Higher Education Today, brings educators, scholars, and practitioners from around the world to share ideas, explore innovations, and build connections. This year's conference is free.

Over the past two years, the IEC has grown into a meaningful platform for elevating teaching innovation at URI and connecting our faculty with colleagues across higher education. Between the 2024 and 2025 conferences, we welcomed more than 300 attendees from URI, the New England region, across the U.S., and internationally—including Canada, Germany, Egypt, Ireland, Fiji, and India. Hosting this conference virtually means we get to share the amazing work happening at URI right alongside ideas from across the United States and around the world. It’s a chance to learn from each other, spark new connections, and grow together. We’re building a space where innovation in teaching and learning can thrive—and we’d love for you to be part of shaping that future with us.

We hope you will consider submitting a proposal, and we would appreciate your help in sharing this opportunity with academics, professional staff, and graduate students who may be interested in presenting. Proposals for presentations, panels, and posters are due December 18, 2025 (Link to submit proposals).

The Call for Proposals and additional conference information are available here:

If you have any follow-up questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Sophia
