Dear ISSOTL Members,

We invite all faculty, sessionals, instructors, staff, educational developers, and students (graduate and undergraduate) to submit proposals for the 37th Teaching and Learning Innovations Conference taking place May 21-22, 2026 at the University of Guelph.

This year’s theme, “Conditions for Learning,” explores the visible and invisible factors that make learning possible, powerful, and enduring. These conditions, shaped by pedagogical choices, learning environments, relationships, policies, and broader cultural and societal contexts, influence how we teach, learn, and work together. Inspired by Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, the theme invites reflection on everything from meeting basic needs and ensuring safety to fostering belonging, empowerment, and purpose.

For details about the theme, session formats, and proposal submission guidelines, please visit the TLI Conference 2026 website.

Submit your proposal by Friday, January 16, 2026 at 5:00 PM https://otl.uoguelph.ca/tli-2026-call-proposals

Thank you, and we look forward to your proposals!

I recognize that the University of Guelph resides on the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit and occupies the ancestral lands of the Attwandaron, the Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee peoples. I offer respect to all Indigenous peoples who have crossed this land. I understand that land acknowledgements are not enough to address the harms of the past and much still has to be done to rebuild respectful and mutually-beneficial relationships with Indigenous peoples and lands. I am committed to deepen my own understanding of local Indigenous communities and actively working against colonialism, towards reconciliation.

I made a mistake in that poem. I would have attached this one.
