Disability Needs to Be Decolonized: A Talk with Dr. Rheanna Robinson
Dr. Robinson is an Associate Professor in the Department of First Nations Studies at the University of Northern British Columbia and a Co-Lead for the Indigenous Research Stream with the Canadian Institute of Inclusion and Citizenship at UBC. An Indigenous scholar (Manitoba Métis Federation), her work focuses on Indigenous Disability Studies and Indigenous Education, grounded in community-based research and the Four R’s: Respect, Relevancy, Reciprocity, and Responsibility.
Drawing on her lived experience with chronic illness and disability, Dr. Robinson will explore how Indigenous knowledges offer meaningful and expansive understandings of equity, inclusion, and pedagogical practice, particularly as universities advance commitments to Indigenization, decolonization, reconciliation, and EDI.
We hope you will join us for this important and timely conversation.
