Greetings ISSOTL members,

Thank you to those who responded to my request in February to hear from educators who have created AI Resistant or made other assignment redesigns to reorient students from too much cognitive offloading to AI thereby placing their critical thinking skills at risk (for the forthcoming book Preserving Critical Thinking  and Learning in the Age of Pervasive AI; Routledge).

In addition to these "top down" structural classroom design solutions, I am also examining "bottom up" approaches to explore how students can be motivated or incentivized to freely choose on their own to not use AI when it is not healthy, appropriate etc.

To that end, I am particularly interested in hearing from any educators that have been able to teach or introduce their students to developing Self Regulated Learning (or related meta cognitive strategies).

If you have experiences or ideas to share, please contact me on this list or directly via my email at berk...@newschool.edu

Many thanks in advance for any input!
