This session continues a 'tradition' that started at last year's ISMIR, to have a meeting of researchers in (and: interested in) Digital Musicology. In this session which we discuss what this year's ISMIR has contributed to music research, and how we would like the next ISMIR(s) to do so. Tentative items for the agenda:
- shortlist of best papers for the hypothetical Best Paper for Digital Musicology award (or should this be a proper award???)
- user needs and requirements for digital musicology research (with some results from an online questionnaire
- initiatives to transfer MIR insights to musicology, and vice versa
This session is proposed by Frans Wiering (
