Speech, Music and Mind 2021: Final Call for Papers (extended deadline)

Dear ISMIR Community,

 

The SMM21 is the fourth in the series of Speech, Music and Mind workshops that started in 2018. This year too, SMM21 is a satellite workshop of Interspeech 2021. As in the previous years, the two sessions of the workshop relate to Detecting Mental States from Audio and Influencing Mental States with Audio.

 

We invite original, relevant contributions to the workshop in the following areas:

 

Detecting stress, emotion or mental states of people from speech

* Multi-modal approaches: using other modes such as video and sensor data in addition to speech

* Relevance of language models for mental state detection

* Cross-corpus detection on non-acted speech databases in multiple languages and realistic environments

 

Effects of Audio on stress, emotion and mental states of people

* Audio-Visual Perception of music

* Analysis of brain signal responses to audio and visual stimulus

* Evaluation and Applications: augmented reality, art installations, music animations, computer games, etc

 

Other topics that are of interest in the context of stress, emotion and mental states

* Approaches of Explainable AI in music and speech

* Sounds at inaudible frequencies

* Novel protocols for assessing mental states, inducing stress or emotion

* Applications related to the above topics

 

Each paper will be assigned to the appropriate session and reviewed (single-blind) by at least two reviewers from the scientific committee. Authors of accepted papers will need to register for the workshop and present their paper in the virtual event on 27 Aug, 2021. Further details are in the attached CfP. * Accept/Reject Notification: 16-Aug-2021

We are also happy to announce that registration for the workshop will be free this year. As with the virtual workshop event in 2020, we will compress the program into about six hours, to accommodate participants from many time zones. If you know other researchers that might be interested in the topics relevant to the workshop, kindly consider sharing this CfP with them.
