Announcement of a Call for Applications for the LexiMus Project

The project Léxico en español y Ontología de la Música (Spanish Music Lexicon and Ontology of Music, LexiMus), funded by MCIN, Spain, and FEDER, EU, is a consortium of three coordinated research subprojects respectively held at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad de La Rioja, and Universidad de Salamanca.

The objective of LexiMus is to explore and systematize fundamental musical concepts by establishing a Conceptual Reference Model (CRM), which serves as both a theoretical framework and a practical tool for the comprehensive integration of musical knowledge. This entails two complementary processes:

  • Spanish Music Lexicon: The development of a Music Lexicon, focusing on defining and elucidating core musical terms within the historiography of music in Spain and Latin America.
  • Domain Ontology for Music: Categorizing musical terms into distinct yet interconnected classifications to facilitate seamless interaction between computer systems and human users. This ontology aims to ensure the precise utilization of conventional musical concepts.

We are seeking a specialist in computational linguistics, data science, or an equivalent field to assume the following responsibilities:

  • Coordination and supervision of the project's IT aspects: The candidate will be responsible for organizing and managing all tasks related to information technology, ensuring that technological resources are used effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaboration in the production of scientific works: The candidate will participate in the writing and presentation of scientific works, both in written format and oral presentations at conferences.
  • IT support for the development of a digital conceptual model: The candidate will provide technical support in the creation of a digital conceptual model based on the corpus, applied to a Spanish music ontology.

Selection Process Criteria

The selection process will be conducted using the following criteria:

a) Master's Degree in Computational Linguistics, Data Science, or equivalent: Up to 30 points based on the academic transcript. The average grade on a 10-point scale will be multiplied by 3 points.

b) PhD obtained after January 1, 2019: 15 points.

c) Practical knowledge or accredited professional experience in handling Python, OWL, or relational and non-relational databases: Up to 20 points. 0.1 points will be awarded for every 10 hours of training and 4 points or fraction thereof for each year of full-time work experience.

d) Research experience in Computational Linguistics, Data Science, or equivalent: Up to 20 points. 1 point will be awarded for each year of participation in funded project teams in competitive calls; 2 points for each article accepted or published in prestigious national and international journals considered quality benchmarks; 1 point for each article accepted/published in non-indexed journals but subject to anonymous peer review, international scientific committee, etc.; 1 point for each communication presented at specialty conferences.

e) Interview: Up to 15 points.

The two years contract offers an annual gross salary of €31,500, distributed across 14 payments.

The selection process will follow the procedure used by the public administration in Spain, which may have some complexities. Interested parties who are not familiar with it are advised to contact the PI of SP2 of LexiMus via email at <teresa....@unirioja.es>.
