NEC Laboratories Europe (NLE) is looking for a student currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Computer Science, AI, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field. The intern will support activities in microbiome studies (method development, supporting an EU-funded project with clinicians). The internship includes the following work items:
• Revising a manuscript on a DL-based method for bias-informed predictions from gut microbiome data for resubmission in a high-tier journal (e.g. Bioinformatics)
• Ensuring reproducibility of results
• Participating in refactoring the code base with staff research engineers
• Apply in-house and state of the art methods to predict rheumatic disease status from clinical, microbiome and genotype data
• Present the results of the analyses in front of various stakeholders (clinicians, bioinformaticians etc.)
