Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce our Special Session on Semantic Knowledge Representation and Reasoning in Biomedicine at the 21st Conference on Computational Intelligence Methods for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics (CIBB 2026).
📢 Call for Short Papers – Special Session at CIBB 2026
Knowledge graphs and semantic technologies provide powerful frameworks for representing, integrating, and reasoning over complex biomedical information. This session will focus on advances in biomedical knowledge representation, semantic data integration, and
explainable reasoning to support knowledge discovery and intelligent decision-making in healthcare and life sciences.
📍 Sapienza University of Rome – Rome, Italy
🗓 September 2–4, 2026
We invite short paper submissions (4–6 pages) on topics including, but not limited to:
• Biomedical and clinical knowledge graph construction and curation
• Knowledge graph embeddings and representation learning for drug discovery and precision medicine
• Ontologies, vocabularies, and standards for healthcare and life sciences
• Semantic integration and interoperability of heterogeneous biomedical data
• Knowledge graphs for disease modelling and clinical pathways
• Reasoning, inference, and rule-based methods over biomedical knowledge graphs
• Temporal, longitudinal, and evolving knowledge graphs in healthcare
• Linking omics data, clinical data, and external biomedical knowledge sources
• Provenance, uncertainty, and trust in biomedical knowledge representation
• Knowledge graph–based decision support and explainable systems
• FAIR data principles, linked data, and Semantic Web infrastructures for biomedicine
📝 Short papers: 4–6 pages
📅 Submission deadline: May 3, 2026
We warmly welcome contributions from researchers working at the intersection of Bioinformatics, Knowledge Graphs, Semantic Web, and Biomedical AI.
Looking forward to exciting discussions with the community in Rome 🇮🇹
