The Bioinformatics Research Lab (https://bit.cs.tum.de) located at the Technical University of Munich, Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability, Germany as cooperating research institute with the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, offers depending on the final grant notification, the following full-time position: 

Research Scientist (f/m/d)for the project “Glycoside Production”

The position is fixed-term position until the 31st of December 2022. 

Job Description: 
We are seeking highly motivated candidates for a scientific research position as Postdoctoral Researcher, to further advance the recently launched Synthetic Biology Foundry at TUM Campus Straubing (SynBiofoundry@TUM). The candidate will develop novel bioinformatics and machine learning methods to analyse complex biological data. 

  • You will advance and support the further development of the Synthetic Biology Foundry infrastructure and establish a standard setup for an automated, high-throughput Design-Build-Test-Learn Cycle 
  • You will work on project-related research within the Learn Cycle in close collaboration with our industry partners 
  • You will develop novel computational and machine-learning based methods for analyzing multiple types of OMICS data (e.g. DNAseq, RNAseq) 
  • You will develop and enhance cloud-based applications and databases related to biological data analysis 
  • You will write scientific publications and present your results at international conferences 

Your Profile: 

  • Experience and interest in the following areas: bioinformatics, machine learning, artificial neural networks, statistics and the analysis of OMICS data 
  • Strong programming background (e.g. Python, C/C++) 
  • Scientific curiosity, ability to work in a team and self-motivated working style 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English 

Requirements: 
Strong academic background with a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology/biotechnology, computer science, statistics or related field.

The starting date will be at the earliest date possible. Pay scale in accordance with the collective agreement for the public service (TV-L).
