Hey salam everyone!
So the history of this is that I was talking to a good friend of mine, and there were so many questions we WISHED we knew answers to when it came to solar and electricity. I asked him if he'd take a class if we organized it, and he said, "Of course." So I figured this would be something the community would be interested in. That's why we're doing this.
Turns out our community has people who know this stuff cold. So we put something together.
Solar Explained is a free, hands-on hour where two community engineers (one environmental) walk through how home solar and electricity actually work. We'll see a real working system outside, and you can ask any question you want: AC vs. DC, inverters, batteries, why a solar home still needs the power company, anything.
Now, they do install solar, so anyone interested in that can feel free to check with them about it. But this class is NOT a sales pitch. It's a chance to get the basics from local community folks. If your power costs are rising (like mine), this is one potential solution that can free you up a bit from the utility companies.
