To keep engagement and better the organization, we will be working on some summer projects that are listed below. We’ve created a Slack Channel for all of them so if you are interested in working on them, please join the channel! As we move into the fall, we will be holding professional development workshops with our mentors and robotics-specific workshops afterward, so please also keep an eye out for those.
CAD Challenge
We will be sending out biweekly CAD Projects to help members learn CAD if they are interested. We will start off with simple projects such as chairs and tables and increase the difficulty as we go. By the end, we want everyone to feel comfortable with CAD and better their skills. In the Fall, we will be holding our InspireNC CAD Challenge that will be open to members and the rest of the FIRST community. If you are interested, this is a great opportunity to learn how to CAD a full robot and a good experience right before the FRC season kicks off. We would also like some people to help plan the CAD Challenge (help come up with a game theme, write the game manual, judge, etc.). If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please join the channel!
Member Database
We will be working on developing a database for InspireNC members to track statistics such as shop/outreach hours, roles in the organization, badges/skills, etc. It will help track growth and help us have a synced calendar for the organization. This is a great opportunity to gain some coding experience and teamwork skills while working on a meaningful project for InspireNC. If you are interested, please join the channel!
Spirograph
We want to develop a 3D Printed Spirograph machine that we can use for various outreach events and expand our involvement in the arts. It is a great way to show the interconnectedness of Math and Art and an overall fun project to work on. If you are interested, please join the channel!
Summer Camp Planning
To increase our engagement with the younger student community, we want to host summer camps for the 2025 summer. Some ideas we have in our plan include offering STEM courses, a build-your-own mini-robot workshop, and more. If you have any other ideas or are interested in developing these camps or working with younger students, please join the channel!
Website Revamp
Given that we have a lot more programs and resources available now, we are going to be updating our website to showcase our new offerings both to prospective members and sponsors. If you are interested, please join the channel!
