Switching branches and metadata subscription dialog

After switching branches, I usually get this dialog. Is there a way to avoid this, or maybe track in version control the file that holds the subscriptions?

That's interesting.  Yeah, so the subscription is maintained in the .iml file, and my guess is that you're not checking that in with each branch, correct?  That would be the real answer...just check in that file.  As of 1.7.8.0, the .idea/illuminatedCloud.xml and .iml files have been cleared of user-specific information (all moved to .idea/workspace.xml) so that they can be checked in safely.  Then when you switch branches, you'll also switch to subscriptions appropriate to each branch.

If you'd prefer not to do that, you can disable the auto-subscription update stuff under Illuminated Cloud>Configure Application>Validation and Deployment by settings When files are added and remove to Never Update.  You would still able to update your metadata subscription based on the filesystem contents at any time using Illuminated Cloud>Add to Metadata Subscription.
