I just installed a fresh version of IntelliJ Community + IC2 on a new laptop and find that the Textmate Bundle is no longer available.  I cannot open the css or js portions of any LWC.

Is there a workaround to continue to use IC2 without having to also go to IntelliJ Ultimate?  We're not a Java shop, so we typically wouldn't use the full IntelliJ.

I just looked at my IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition 2024.2.0.2 install and the TextMate Bundles plugin is still present:

as are the settings where you can enable CSS and JavaScript:

Please confirm that the plugin is present. If not, I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition as it should be a bundled plugin. If it's present but not enabled, please enable it and make sure that both "css" and "javascript" are enabled in the settings.

Since you mentioned you were on a fresh install of IJCE, if you don’t see that plugin after a reinstall, please let me know. And as a workaround, you can associated *.css with CSS files (improved syntax highlighting) and *.js with JavaScript (improved syntax highlighting) in Settings | Editor | File Types until I can chat with JetBrains and figure out what’s going on with a new install lacking that plugin.

Hi Scott,
Those Textmate and file type settings are there and selected for javascript / css.

It appears the issue is more minor than I thought.  When I open the js or css file though, it opens the related html file instead, with the js file name in the tab bar, but now that I look closer, the bottom tabs exist with all selectable files in the bundle and I'm able to edit them.  This just seems to be a UI change where I used to be able to have separate tabs for each file at the top.

I am using the same version of IntelliJ, but Windows 11 if that makes a difference.

That still doesn’t sound quite right in a few ways. The sub-tabs for tabbed editors are at the bottom, not the top. Perhaps that’s configurable in the JetBrains settings? I’ve never looked. Also, I’m not seeing that same behavior locally. In IJCE 2024.2.0.2 under Windows 11, when I open a .js file from an LWC bundle, the tabbed editor for that bundle is opened with that specific file’s tab selected initially. It sounds like you’re seeing a different behavior where the first tab is always selected initially, correct?

Correct, the first of the tabs within the bundle is always chosen when opening a file from a bundle.

That's bizarre. Can you please install the latest build of any other supported JetBrains IDE -- JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate Edition, WebStorm, or even PyCharm Community Edition -- and see if the same behavior is present? I'm unable to reproduce it in any of my installed JetBrains IDEs, all on the latest respective versions and all under Windows 11, so I'm curious as to whether this is specific to your current IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition install, your machine (which wouldn't make sense), or something else...
