My package manager updated my Node.js version to v25 and that appears to have made a change that breaks the Salesforce CLI. I've downgraded back to v24 and everything is back to working except for Illuminated Cloud. I still get the same error of "Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'prototype')." Anyone also have this error and has figured out how to fix it?

I have the latest version of the CLI, Illuminated Cloud 2 and Intellij. I've used NVM to install v24 of Node and I pointed Illuminated Cloud to the Salesforce CLI at /home/username/.nvm/versions/node/v24.10.0/bin/sf

My guess is that something is still left over from the previous install. I would recommend a full uninstall of the CLI followed by a fresh install, and then make sure that IC is picking up the exact same path to the sf executable as shown in the command-line via which sf.

Let me know if that doesn’t help.

Hello Scott,

No luck with that. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling IC just in case and that didn't work either. The output of which sf is the same folder path I mentioned above (/home/username/.nvm/versions/node/v24.10.0/bin/sf) which is what IC is picking up.

When you uninstalled the CLI, did you do a full uninstall including the directories outlined at the top of the linked instructions? If not, please do so as that makes a big difference in having a truly clean and proper CLI install.

If you did do that — or if the problem is still present after doing that — please enable debug logging for Salesforce DX, reproduce the issue, and email the resulting idea.log file to me for review.
