After I created some new fields on the SObject, the IC could only recognize them after regenerating the OST. Regenerating the OST takes a long time, so is it possible to do a partial update?

When you regenerate the OST, you can choose SObjects Only as an option, specifically for the use case of catching up the OST for changes to SObjects and their fields without the overhead of other OST aspects. Have you tried that? Is that also taking too long? If so, you can update only specific SObjects by ensuring that Illuminated Cloud | Configure Application | Validation and Deployment | Update offline symbol table on successful deployment is enabled and then deploying those changed SObjects.

Now, when I regenerate the OST, I choose 'SObject Only' because there is too much metadata in my org (including lots of packages), so it takes a long time.

Okay. If even SObjects Only takes a long time for you against this org, you can do this to update only the SObjects that are known to have changed (assuming you have their metadata locally):

If so, you can update only specific SObjects by ensuring that Illuminated Cloud | Configure Application | Validation and Deployment | Update offline symbol table on successful deployment is enabled and then deploying those changed SObjects.
