Hi Scott,

For some reason when I create a project using a DX Connection, the project gets created but not in Source Format.  A couple of things I've noticed:  json file is not created, and package file is not created either.

Your assistance will be appreciated.

Thanks,

David

Attached is s/shot of an error I get.  The error is related to the Salesforce CLI.

How are you creating the project? If you're using File > New Project, are you selecting Illuminated Cloud or Illuminated Cloud SFDX? If you want source format, you must use the latter.

If that's what you're doing and it's still not working, please enable debug logging for Saleforce DX, reproduce the behavior, and email the resulting idea.log file to sup...@illuminatedcloud.com. My guess is that there's something wrong with your Salesforce CLI installation because that path pretty much runs "sfdx force:project:create" and opens the IDE on the created project directory.

Okay. My guess is that you can reproduce this from the command-line by running:

sfdx force:project:create -d <parentDirPath> -n <projectName> --json

I would recommend that you completely uninstall the Salesforce CLI and reinstall it. I've seen a large number of issues from invalid/corrupt CLI installs of late, particularly those that have been upgraded in-place repeatedly, that are resolved by completely uninstalling the CLI and reinstalling it fresh. Please make sure to remove all cache directories, etc., as documented here:
