Group Creation in the New Groups Interface

When creating a group in the new groups interface, pay close attention to the default permission settings.  Currently, Google is defaulting these to:

View Topics: All Organization Members
Post: All Organization Members
Join: Anyone in the Organization

In other words, unless you change these settings when creating the group, it will be accessible to anyone within the IIT Organization.

On a related note, groups are listed in the IIT Groups Directory by default.  If you do not desire this, access your Group Settings, click Directory, and deselect the checkbox to list your group.

That's great - I also think it's better if you do as little as possible in the initial group creation dialog. There are only limited options. In other words, create the group first, then go into the admin interface to add users, tweak settings,etc.
