Vecto Algebra - I (BPHCT-131)

Dear Sir/Mam,

I have following query:

Question No. 13 - Terminal Questions - Unit 1 - Block 1 - BPHCT 131

In the question stated above, vector a= 5 units & vector b= 4 units whereas in the solution provided in the course material vector a has been taken 4 units & vector b 5 units.

The magnitude & direction of (a+b) and (a-b) varies marginally if the vectors are interchanged in the formula, specially the formula for finding alpha.

How is it decided which vector will be a & which one will be b in the formula?

Kindly help.
