Unable to clone PAPI

Hello,
I have been trying to build PAPI and so I was cloning it.
But I keep getting the following error:
error: invalid path 'src/counter_analysis_toolkit/scripts/sample_data/L2_RQSTS:ALL_DEMAND_REFERENCES.data.reads.stat'
fatal: unable to checkout working tree
warning: Clone succeeded, but checkout failed.
You can inspect what was checked out with 'git status'
and retry with 'git restore --source=HEAD :/'
I am cloning using the git bash shell, the only tag that I can clone is v4.11.1, anything newer gets a similar error.
I also had 2 other people try it out on their own systems, and they also had the same problems.
What can I do to fix it?

The problem was because of windows, it works fine in unix. No need to reply to this email. Thank you
