Hello good PAPI folks -

The current (6.0.0.1) release of PAPI doesn’t work with compute capability 7.5+ cards. When I turn on debugging, I get the following error:

error: function (*cuptiDeviceGetNumEventDomainsPtr) (mydevice->cuDev, &mydevice->maxDomains) failed with error CUPTI_ERROR_LEGACY_PROFILER_NOT_SUPPORTED.

Our installed CUDA driver version is: "Driver Version: 440.33.01”. This is with NVIDIA Tesla T4 GPUs.

Is the CUDA component going to be updated soon to work with current CUDA devices/libraries (i.e. PerfWorks API)?

Thanks!
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

The issue is that for CC 7.5+, Nvidia has introduced a new interface, CUpti 1.0, which is incompatible with the current CUpti interface we were using.

This is one of several items on my list of things to do, find the differences and update our CUDA component to support both legacy and C1.0, so yes it will be updated.

I don't have a timeline for you, at the moment I am working on correcting two other reported deficiencies in the current CUDA component.

-Tony
