Dear HYCOM Forum,

I am a research scientist working on sea level projections under climate change and am looking to use HYCOM reanalysis data to validate my model results.

I have found that only daily data is currently available. Could you please advise on how to access the monthly Global 1/12° Reanalysis data (e.g., GLBu0.08/expt_19.0 and GLBu0.08/expt_19.1)?

Thank you for your help.

I suggest you use the more recent GOFS 3.1 Reanalysis: http://data.hycom.org/datasets/GLBv0.08/expt_53.X/meanstd/netcdf/

Hi Alan,

I would also like to inquire whether it is possible to download a subset of the monthly data via NetCDFSubset (http://ncss.hycom.org/thredds/ncss/grid/GLBv0.08/expt_53.X/dataset.html). Is NetCDFSubset functionality limited to 6-hourly data, or can it be used with monthly datasets as well?

I appreciate your assistance and look forward to your guidance.

Kind Regards,

Yi

You don't often get email from alan.wa...@hycom.org. Learn why this is important

Monthly fields are much less data than 6hrly, so we don't offer sub-setting.  Download the full fields and subset them locally with ncks from NCO (say).

I find rsync to be the easiest way to do this, for example to download the long term monthly and annual means use (note the ??'s):

rsync --size-only -P -h "rsync.hycom.org::datasets/GLBv0.08/expt_53.X/meanstd/netcdf/hycom_GLBv0.08_53X_archMN.1994_??_2015_??_ssh.nc" ./
