daily_netcdf contents

Hello, HYCOM.

 

I stumbled across the daily_netcdf directory, https://data.hycom.org/datasets/ESPC-D-V02/data/daily_netcdf/2025/.

 

I thought I might get lucky and see one netcdf per forecast day per model run.  But that doesn’t seem to be the case.  Does only the daily mean for a run date (looking back 12h and ahead 12h) get generated instead of one per forecast-day?  E.g., for the most recent run from 11/12, the only mean I see is for the 12^th instead of one for each of 11/12 – 11/21 or so.

 

ncdump -h of US058GCOM-OPSnce.espc-d-031-hycom_fcst_glby008_2025111312_M0000_u3z.nc tells me ncra of:

The files in daily_netcdf are the daily means for the analysis day (1st day of forecast). We do not provide the daily means for the entire forecast.
