Greetings:

The host server (www.hycom.org/data/gomb0pt04/gom-reanalysis#experiment-numbers) indicates that HYCOM data for this product is available up to the present, subject to a 2–3 month delay. However, upon inspection it appears that the data are only available through early September 2024, which is also consistent with the availability shown on the NCEI portal (https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/erddap/griddap/Hycom_sfc_3d.html).

Could you therefore please advise me on where I might obtain the data for the remaining months?

Cheers and thank you,

Alexandre Fierro, Ph.D.

Hi Alexandre,
The GOMb reanalyses at 1km and 4km were on a hiatus in the last few months and are now running again.
The time series for the period 01/2001 to 08/2024 are available in the GOMb0.01 and GOMb0.04 pages as you have seen. The time period 09/2024 to present-ish is being run right now and will be available soon in new webpages GOMe0.01 and GOMe0.04. These new datasets are a continuation of the GOMbs configurations but use ESP-D-V02 at the boundaries instead of the GOFS3.1 and the wind-stress will now be available instead of the u10-v10.
Note that the u10-v10 can be extracted from the CFSv2 atmospheric forcing that is also present in the HYCOM server.
I will send a notice to the forum once the new datasets are available.

Best,

Alexandra Bozec
