rsync path

Hello, HYCOM.

I'm sure the issue is staring at me in the face, but I can't make the transition from FTP to rsync.  Somewhere I read that ftp paths == rsync paths.

This seems to be valid, wget ftp://ftp.hycom.org/datasets/GLBy0.08/expt_93.0/data/forecasts/hycom_glby_930_2022120412_t000_uv3z.nc -O foo.nc.

But this doesn't fly (I believe I need to remove the first / from "/datasets" to even get started).

rsync rsync.hycom.org::datasets/GLBy0.08/expt_93.0/data/forecasts/hycom_glby_930_2022120412_t000_uv3z.nc foo.nc

rsync: [sender] change_dir "/GLBy0.08/expt_93.0/data/forecasts" (in datasets) failed: No such file or directory (2)

We mirror the ftp.hycom.org data server offerings via HTTP/HTTPS here, data.hycom.org.

The following, for example, works:

wget http://data.hycom.org/datasets/GLBy0.08/expt_93.0/data/forecasts/hycom_glby_930_2022113012_t000_ssh.nc .

Sorry. This rsync path is working again now and rsync paths still
mimic ftp paths. As Alan noted, we also offer http/https via
"data.hycom.org" which mimic the ftp paths. We had an NFS interruption
the other day and the rsync server was not rebooted to clear the stale
NFS files/paths.

I'll work on adding rsync checks to our Nagios to alert us from these
rsync module outages in the future.
