I have downloaded the HYCOM Water Surface Elevation data for the Florida region in the USA for use in my coastal hydrodynamic modeling research. Could you please confirm the vertical datum used for the water surface elevation values in this dataset?

The ocean model's SSH is w.r.t. the surface of an earth-sized sphere.
