About using HYCOM Data and citation

Hello, I'm Kai Yamamoto, Master course 2nd-degree student, the graduate school of Kyoto University. 

I would like to get the HYCOM data via Google Earth Engine and write a paper on it.

So, what exactly is the citation that is needed to cite this data? 

Is it enough to do the citation mentioned in Google Earth Engine? (https://developers.google.com/earth-engine/datasets/catalog/HYCOM_sea_water_velocity#citations)

i.e. J. A. Cummings and O. M. Smedstad. 2013: Variational Data Assimilation for the Global Ocean. Data Assimilation for Atmospheric, Oceanic and Hydrologic Applications vol II, chapter 13, 303-343.

Also, Do I need to contact you if I am published?

I would appreciate it if you could answer the above questions.

I think the citation Google earth provides is sufficient.
if/when you publish we would love to add this to our hycom
publications listing. just email us the DOI/details.
