Hi HYCOM users,
recently I have used the HYCOM database of GOFS 3.1: 41-layer HYCOM + NCODA Global 1/12° Analysis.
I am writing a publication and I would like to cite this database in my section of references.

I have checked how to write the acknowledgements, but how should I cite the database that I used?

Thanks.

S.

I suggest the following:

Naval Research Laboratory. (2014–2021). Global Ocean Forecast System (GOFS) 3.1 [Dataset]. https://www.hycom.org/dataserver/gofs-3pt1/analysis.

For publications, GOFS 3.0 is described in:

E. J. Metzger, O. M. Smedstad, P. G. Thoppil, H. E. Hurlburt, J. A. Cummings, A. J. Wallcraft, L. Zamudio, D. S. Franklin, P. G. Posey, M. W. Phelps, P. J. Hogan, F. L. Bub and C. J. Dehaan, 2014:
US Navy Operational Global Ocean and Arctic Ice Prediction Systems
Oceanography vol 27 3, http://dx.doi.org/10.5670/oceanog.2014.66

and GOFS 3.1 in:

E.J. Metzger, R.W. Helber, P.J. Hogan, P.G.Posey, P.G. Thoppil, T.L. Townsend, A.J. Wallcraft, O.M. Smedstad, and D.S. Franklin, 2017:
Global Ocean Forecast System 3.1 Validation Testing
NRL Report NRL/MR/7320--17-9722
