Dear HYCOM Support Team,
I am a honours student at James Cook University using GOFS 3.1 (GLBy0.08 expt_93.0) mixed_layer_thickness from the sur diagnostic product for ocean mixed layer depth validation in my thesis.
I have noticed that mixed_layer_thickness returns NaN values for the central South Pacific region (~15-20°S, 207-215°E) prior to approximately December 2018, while the same variable returns valid data for the same period at other longitudes (e.g. ~235°E). Data
appears to become available at 207-215°E around December 1 2018.
I would like to confirm:
-
When did the mixed_layer_thickness variable become available in the sur product at this location?
-
Is this related to the experiment 93.0H rollout — and if so, when and where did 93.0H begin providing sur diagnostic fields?
Any documentation or references you could point me to would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards,
Erin Miles
