Dear McDonald

I am a fresh user of hycom data

I just got the data of hycom, and had a question of data name rule

for example, hycom_glby_930_2022040712_t000_ts3z.nc

the time of the data is showing the situation of
1. year 2022, month 04, date 07, hour 12 in UTC
2.  year 2022, month 04, date 07, hour 0 in UTC

I have no idea the correct time of this data?

Thanks

t000 is tau 0, i.e. the analysis time which is always at 12Z.  So your 1.

If you look at the netcdf metadata it should tell you the analysis time under tau, e.g. for a different day I get:

    double tau(time) ;
        tau:long_name = "Tau" ;
        tau:units = "hours since analysis" ;
        tau:time_origin = "2019-04-24 12:00:00" ;
        tau:NAVO_code = 56 ;
