Hello,

I am a third year PhD student in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder and I am currently working on a project about the impact of extreme events (tropical cyclones) on the upper ocean.

I am having quite some troubles accessing the forcing files (for wind and precipitation)..
I have been trying to use the .D to netcdf converter without success both on my laptop and on the UCAR Cheyenne supercomputer, but I keep getting several errors..

To try and speed things up, I was wondering if you by any chance either 1) have a Cheyenne environment/guide that I could use to have the netcdf converter work or 2) directly have the forcing files in the netcdf format stored somewhere.

Thank you very much in advance,
Regards,
Jacopo Sala

We don't have netcdf versions if the .D files.

The simplest fix is to get nrl2nc working, I assume you are using the HYCOM-tools version https://github.com/HYCOM/HYCOM-tools/blob/master/force/src/nrl2nc.f?

Which .D files are you trying to convert?  I can check that it works on our machines.

Alan.
