To whom it may concern:

I hope this message finds you well.
Thank you for making the data publicly available — it is very helpful for my research.

However, as the dataset is quite large, I would like to download only a specific region of interest. I have a couple of questions regarding this:

    1. Is there a version of the dataset available that spans a longer time period? such as from 1980 to 2025?

     2. Is there a way to download data for just a selected region, rather than the full dataset?

Thank you very much for your kind assistance. I appreciate your time and support.
      Wishing you a great weekend!

Best regards,
Peng

Ocean Reanalysis data sets tend to start in 1994 because that is when the 1st satellite altimeter became available.  If you find a global ocean model dataset before 1994 if won't have eddies in the right places because only assimilation of one or more altimeters keeps them on track.

The GOFS 3.1 Reanalysis ends in 2015.  It is possible to extend it to 2024-09-04 using the GOFS 3.1 Analysis, but this is not using the same atmospheric forcing and only uses the observations available in near real time.  For a list of the Analysis expt sequence see https://www7320.nrlssc.navy.mil/GLBhycomcice1-12/

Most of the access methods are designed to download subsets.
