Request for AWS S3 credentials for HCP OpenAccess bucket

Dear HCP Team,

I am a researcher currently using the HCP-Young Adult 2025 resting-state fMRI data for a study on hierarchical brain functional network structure. 

I have already accepted the Open Access Data Use Terms on ConnectomeDB (username: hyunyong).

I would like to request AWS S3 credentials for the hcp-openaccess bucket to programmatically download preprocessed resting-state fMRI data (rfMRI_REST CIFTI files) for a larger number of subjects. 

I was unable to locate the "Amazon S3 Access" button on the current BALSA interface.

Could you please provide instructions on how to obtain AWS Access Key and Secret Key for the hcp-openaccess S3 bucket?

Hi Hyun-Yong,

We do not have a method at the moment for obtaining AWS keys if you don't already have them. However, we are close to releasing an AWS key generator on BALSA in the next week or two. Please stay tuned to the HCP-users group for an announcement when it's ready. 

The data on AWS S3 is the 2017 HCP S1200 data. We recommend using the 2025 data released on BALSA but we don't have definite plans to put the HCP-YA 2025 release on AWS S3. We would need to work it out with the AWS Open Datasets program and we haven't been able to prioritize that as of yet.

As discussed on other threads, we do have plans to implement alternatives to Aspera but they are not in place yet.
