Dear HCP team,
I am currently working with the HCP-Young Adult 2025 Release data and have a question regarding the preprocessing of the following files: MNINonLinear/Results/rfMRI_REST{1, 2}_{LR, RL}/rfMRI_REST{1, 2}_{LR, RL}_Atlas_MSMAll_hp2000_clean_rclean_tclean.dtseries.nii.
Could you please clarify whether these files have undergone any spatial smoothing (such as the 2 mm FWHM smoothing mentioned in the paper of HCP minimal preprocessing pipelines) or filtering? Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Zack
The CIFTI space is approximately 2mm spaced, so the point of the 2mm FWHM is to make sure that the detail is even. In practice it doesn’t make much difference at all.
Matt.

Dear Matt and Tim,
Thank you both very much for the quick and helpful clarifications.
I’d like to confirm my understanding that the above files have indeed undergone 2mm FWHM spatial smoothing.
Best regards,
Zack
