Hi all,
I am trying to generate a short movie (animation) in wb_view and I am getting this error when I try to create the movie:
Invalid path for ffmpeg: C:\Users\nmemarian\Documents\Negar\MRI\workbench\bin_windows64/ffmpeg
WORKBENCH_FFMPEG_DIR can be set to directory containing ffmpeg.

I've tried saving the file to the \workbench\bin_windows64\ folder, where ffmpeg also resides, but I get the same error.

I am not entirely sure if I'm using the wb_view movie recording window option correctly. These are the steps I've taken:
I opened wb tutorial scene 1, montage (3) ALL. Replaced the tutorial's example surface and volume files with files corresponding to an individual subject from my own dataset. I'd like to generate an animation that shows the changes in this 3D surface-volume reconstruction as I shift through the coronal slices (go from front of head to back of head - please see the attached images for 3 example slices). To do this, I open the "movie recording" window, click on the "record" button under "recording mode", shift through the coronal slices by using the arrow keys, hit the "record" button again and then select "create movie" under "output movie". After entering the desired file name and location to be saved, I hit "save" and that's when I get the above-mentioned error message.

I would appreciate any help.
kind regards,
Negar

The problem may be a hardcoded path separator in our code.  The next release should be better about this.  You can try this version (but please try not to create/share scene files made with it, as they may not be compatible with the next official release):

Hi Tim,

Many thanks for getting  back to me. I re-tried creating a movie with the latest version of workbench that you sent and unfortunately the problem persists. I get this error message:

In your computer system’s settings (preferences), try creating an environment variable with the name WORKBENCH_FFMPEG_DIR and set it to the path below.  After that is done, restart wb_view and try creating a movie.

C:\Users\nmemarian\Documents\Negar\MRI\Beta_w\workbench-windows64-dev_latest\workbench\bin_windows64

Hi John,

Thank you for your reply. I created a new system variable named WORKBENCH_FFMPEG_DIR and set the value for it to C:\Users\nmemarian\Documents\Negar\MRI\Beta_wb\workbench-windows64-dev_latest\workbench\bin_windows64
Unfortunately, it still gives me an error and fails to create the movie. Here is the error:

Negar,

I have made some changes to the windows version of wb_view and I have been able to create a movie with it.  This is a development version of Workbench so please try not to create/share scene files made with it, as they may not be compatible with the next official release.

If you still have the environment variable WORKBENCH_FFMPEG_DIR  set, remove it prior to trying this version of Workbench.

Hi John,

My apologies for the late message, I just realized that I forgot to let you know that the last windows version of wb_view that you kindly shared with me worked and I no longer face the issue that I had with creating movies in wb_view. Many thanks for your help.

Kind regards,
Negar
